Book Activities

Borrow an imaginative text from the library. If possible, choose a book that contains rhyme.

Text that reads "Week 1 Lesson 4."

Look at the front cover and read the blurb on the back. Predict what you think the book will be about.

Read the text or a few chapters of a larger book.

Text study – Examine the features in the text—for example, layout, rhyming words, use of syllables and sentence punctuation. Locate newly learned graphemes and tricky words.
