Oral Blending – Provide your child with 2 or 3 phonemes to blend together using the /p/ sound. Examples include:

·     /a/  /pp/     blends to app.

·     /p/  /ay/         blends to pay.

·     /p/  /u/  /g/     blends to pug.

·     /m/  /o/  /p/     blends to mop.

·     /p/  /i/  /t/     blends to pit.

·     /t/  /a/  /p/     blends to tap.

After oral blending, ask your child to point to the location of /p/ in the above words. Use the below sound boxes to help your child segment words and to identify the location of /p/. For example, in the word app, /p/ is the second sound. So, you would point to the second sound box for 2 phoneme words. See resource below.
